Results Are In!

I had my post-boot camp evaluation last night.  With two days of camp left to go, I have so far lost 5 pounds and 3.5% body fat.  Not too bad, not too bad...but I hate to think how much better it would have been if I hadn't indulged in all those Cadbury Crème Eggs during the first couple of weeks before Easter.  Oh, well, a loss is a loss, and I'm all the better for this experience.  I hope I can keep it up - only 3 ½ months to go before the wedding...

I guess you could call me a Happy Littler Goddess!

Yeah Yeah Yeah, Ouch Ouch Ouch

My darling fiancé and I attended the much anticipated Yeah Yeah Yeahs show last night at Sokol.  The band was impressive, though I can't say the same for the two opening acts.  I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that I've sang better in my car.

Even after my relatively late night (hey, I'm old now - midnight is late for a Tuesday!), I was up at 5 a.m. for boot camp.  We're halfway through Week 3 - 8 days to go!  I am very sore today.  Honestly, it's not as difficult as I thought it was going to be, but it's still a daily workout and consistency is the key, right?  My arms are very tender and my back is stiff, so I must be doing something right!

Ooh, I found new music yesterday.  Well, new to me - I'm a little slow on the draw in that department sometimes.  We watched "Everything is Illuminated" Monday night - great movie!  I was looking for the soundtrack and came across one of the bands, Gogol Bordello.  They've toured with DeVotchka, one of my current favorites, so I downloaded one of their albums.  Gypsy punk - now there is some music fit for a happy little goddess...

Raqstars

A bunch of the Divas went to the 9th Annual Rainbows of the Desert Workshop & Dance Extravaganza this weekend in Des Moines.  The workshop was taught by Princess Farhana from LA.  What a riot!  She looked like a beautiful Arabic princess, but had the mouth of a sailor!  It was great - I learned a lot, and we met some wonderful girls.  The Rakstar Fusion troupe from Minnesota insisted on being photographed with us and we all went to dinner after the show Saturday night.  Their performance was amazing!  Part belly dance, part African tribal, part Bollywood - so beautiful and energetic.  We weren't so bad ourselves, although I felt really clumsy on stage this time.

This morning I rose at 5 a.m. (no thanks to Daylight Saving Times) and went to my first day of Adventure Boot Camp.  It was freezing!  The wind was blowing off the lake and our yoga mats kept flying away.  Other than that, it was a ton of fun and I can't wait for tomorrow (although we'll see what tune I'm singing by Friday...) We had to introduce ourselves and tell everyone our "rock star" names.  Um, more like porn star names.  It was the combination of your first pet's name and the street you grew up on.  I had to introduce myself as "Cuddles Ontario".  Eek.  Sounds like I could win an Adult Entertainer award!
