really?

A tad ridiculous, if you ask me.  Child brings home Spiderman comic book.  Mother thinks it's too "sexual" and complains to school library.  School will form committee to evaluate complain.  Mother insists on holding onto book until complaint is resolved.  Um, why?  Why not give the book back so that the committee can examine it???  Ugh.  Seriously, lady, I highly doubt it's anything your kid hasn't seen before, and very likely does not understand or CARE!  And give the book back so that this can get done properly - unless there's another reason you insist on holding onto a sexually suggestive graphic novel...?

All things must come to an end. Or, it's time for a change.

Take your pick.  It’s been a rough couple of weeks.  After 5 ½ years with in the Diva Soma dance troupe, I’ve taken my leave.  I’m not alone; many of the other “Divas”, or whatever we’re going to call ourselves now, have also parted ways with the troupe.  It’s sad.  These women are more than friends to me after all these years, and I hope that we continue to dance and have fun together.  Belly dance and the wonderful community that comes with it have gotten me through some hard times, as well as helping me to celebrate the good times.

But enough with the past…the future is waiting and far more exciting.  I’m not done dancing, not by a long shot.  In fact, a group is getting together this weekend to learn some new moves, plus I’m planning on THREE workshops in April.  My abs hurt just thinking about it! J  Whatever I end up doing, it feels like some of the stress of late has been removed and dancing just sounds FUN again.

retail therapy

For once, I didn’t have a good weekend.  I, the queen of busy-and-fun-filled-or-otherwise-productive weekends, was in a sorry state.  I received some very sad news about something I cared very deeply about.   I cannot go into details at this time, as I do not feel that it is fair to speak poorly of someone in a public venue if you have not heard their side, but suffice it to say I am very disappointed after hearing the first side of the story.  There was crying, and I am not a crier.  I even scared the dog.

So, yeah, long difficult weekend.  To compensate, I attempted a little retail therapy, buying a cheap-o digital camera for our upcoming vacation (not taking the “nice” camera out of the country!), a belly dance dvd, and two new craft books.  Yea!  Stuff!
